Methodology
Affiliation: Members’ affiliation is determined by several factors: self-descriptions (‘I am a proud constitutional conservative’), voter registration (unavailable for most), personal political donations, endorsements received, and previously held office (if applicable). The significance of each of these factors is below:
Highest impact: Previously held office, self-descriptions
Medium impact: Endorsements received, personal political donations <10 years ago, voter registration
Low impact: personal political donations >10 years ago
Age: Age is rounded up, regardless of whether the member’s exact birthdate is known.
